Alcohol Advice Centre
The Alcohol Advice Centre exists to provide confidential information, advice and support to anyone concerned about their own or someone else’s drinking.
We are happy to help in a range of ways: for some, information about the effects of alcohol or our services is enough, while for those who need it, more intensive support to achieve important change is offered.
Drop-in Service
We offer a drop-in service for drinkers, their families and friends. For many people this is just a chance to get some information and advice from an alcohol worker; however, this can then lead on to a full alcohol assessment.
An alcohol assessement can lead to a referral to one to one case work for on-going support with the Alcohol Advice Centre, or a referal to the Alcohol Day Care programme.
In some cases a referral to the Community Care Team to apply for residential rehabilitation may be appropriate.
We also refer on to other agencies such as Housing Support or other voluntary organisation where appropriate.
We also refer to the NHS Community Alcohol Team for a further assessment to assess the need for a detox or one to one case work.

We also operate an Alcohol Advice Helpline on 0116 2229545.
